Low Back
Changes in posture, weight distribution, and daily movement can contribute to low-back tension, stiffness, or discomfort.
PRENATAL CHIROPRACTIC CARE
Pregnancy places new demands on the muscles, joints, and movement patterns of your body.
As your body changes, you may notice more tension, stiffness, or discomfort through the low back, pelvis, hips, mid-back, or other areas.
At Trinity Chiropractic Center, Dr. Branden adapts chiropractic care to your stage of pregnancy, comfort level, health history, and individual needs.
THROUGHOUT PREGNANCY
Changes in weight, posture, and movement can affect how your back, pelvis, and surrounding muscles feel.
As pregnancy progresses, your center of gravity shifts and the physical demands placed on your spine and joints change.
Some women notice increased muscle tension, stiffness, or discomfort during everyday activities such as walking, sleeping, sitting, working, exercising, or changing positions.
Dr. Branden evaluates what you're experiencing and adapts care to what is appropriate for you at that stage of pregnancy.
COMMON AREAS OF CONCERN
Every pregnancy is different, but certain areas often take on more physical stress as your body changes.
Changes in posture, weight distribution, and daily movement can contribute to low-back tension, stiffness, or discomfort.
The pelvis and hips may feel different as your body adapts to pregnancy and your movement patterns change.
Some women notice tension or discomfort through the mid-back, rib area, or surrounding muscles as posture changes.
Muscles around the spine, hips, and pelvis may become tight or sensitive and may need additional attention alongside the joints.
ADAPTED FOR PREGNANCY
Comfort, positioning, and technique matter throughout pregnancy.
Dr. Branden modifies the way you are positioned and the type of chiropractic technique used based on your stage of pregnancy and comfort level.
Care may involve gentler or lower-force approaches when appropriate, and adjustments can be modified as your body changes throughout pregnancy.
The goal is to provide individualized musculoskeletal care without treating every pregnant patient the same way.
Positioning adapted for pregnancy
Technique adjusted to comfort and findings
Attention to back, pelvis, hips, and surrounding tissues
Care modified as pregnancy progresses
MORE THAN THE JOINT
Pregnancy-related changes can create significant tension in the muscles surrounding the back, hips, and pelvis.
MANUAL THERAPY
Sometimes a joint isn't the only area contributing to discomfort.
When appropriate, Dr. Branden may use hands-on manual therapy to work with tight or sensitive muscles and fascia surrounding the area being treated.
This can be incorporated alongside chiropractic adjustments when the surrounding tissues would benefit from additional attention.
Learn About Manual Therapy →CARE THAT CHANGES WITH YOU
The way your body feels early in pregnancy may be very different from how it feels later.
01
Care is based on your current symptoms, health history, and comfort. Even early in pregnancy, technique and positioning can be adapted when needed.
02
As posture and weight distribution shift, different areas may begin to feel tight, stiff, or uncomfortable. Care can change with those needs.
03
Comfort and positioning become especially important as your belly grows and certain positions are no longer comfortable or appropriate.
OUR APPROACH
Prenatal chiropractic care is one part of your overall healthcare during pregnancy.
Our role is to evaluate and address musculoskeletal concerns involving the joints, movement, and surrounding tissues when chiropractic care is appropriate.
We do not use chiropractic care as a replacement for prenatal medical care, obstetric care, or evaluation by your healthcare provider.
WORKING WITH YOUR HEALTHCARE TEAM
If you are experiencing symptoms that require obstetric or medical evaluation, we want you to receive the appropriate care.
If you have questions about whether chiropractic care is appropriate during your pregnancy, we encourage you to discuss it with your pregnancy healthcare provider as well.
YOUR FIRST VISIT
We'll talk about your pregnancy, where you're experiencing discomfort, and what movements or activities have become more difficult.
Dr. Branden evaluates the areas involved and determines whether chiropractic care may be appropriate.
Technique, positioning, and force are modified around your stage of pregnancy and comfort.
QUESTIONS ABOUT SAFETY
Pregnancy changes the way chiropractic care should be approached, which is why your health history, stage of pregnancy, symptoms, and comfort are considered before care begins.
Research specifically studying spinal manipulation during pregnancy is still limited. Temporary soreness or discomfort can occur after manual treatment, and pregnancy-related health concerns may require modification, referral, or another type of evaluation.
We encourage patients to ask questions and communicate with both Dr. Branden and their pregnancy healthcare provider when deciding what is appropriate.
